We could always create a new STO section, but I just wanted to put an idea thread out there.
I logged on this morning with very little time, so I thought I'd finish up the Secure Sirius Sector mission. I went into the little disturbance thingy in Sector Space and fought for a while in there. You can complete the mission, which is doing it 3 times, at once in one Deep Space Encounter, know what I mean. It was great. Not only is it fun to fly around blasting Klingons, but the drops and "XP" was outstanding..almost got me through 8 in about 30-40 minutes. The real kicker is that you can keep Hailing Sulu and getting the mission over and over again. Which makes the "XP" even better. Thought I'd throw this out there if you're interested in a little grinding for gear and skill. I had a lot of fun and got a MK II Dual Phaser Array. It's only a 90 degree firing arc, but it's got sweet DPS and works great on the front array of my ship.

I'm now lvl 3 ;-)
Fun so far... Space combat is a little hard for me at the moment, but Tib gave me a hand with the first Battleship
I had to take on...
So far so good...

I'm level 2. I don't think I fully grasp the questing aspect of the game..... Walk around looking for stuff to do? I don't think I get it yet. Maybe when I get my Lappy on Monday and install vent and hook up with you all I will have a better idea. I am trying to put myself in my "I just started playing WoW' mind set but I think I am more confused than I was with Wow.

I understand what you mean OM...
To me too, it doesn't feel as natural as it did in wow at the beginning...
but then again, maybe that's also the beauty of it... it's confusing cause it's
a little different, and different is good ;-)

Thought I would show you some of the cool things I am seeing in my Travels around the Universe in STO
These 2 images are of one system in an "exploration cluster" - basically a map where you can access a randomly generated mission - the system, the planet enviroments and any lifeforms on them are randomized.

Captain's personal log, Stardate 87097.63
The final preparations to get the USS Victory underway from spacedock are coming along nicely. Since assuming command 72 hours ago and learning of our new assignment the crew has worked around the clock to finish in 4 days what should have taken 14. Bringing along my senior staff and a lot of the Helena's crew has certainly made it easier.
From the viewport in my ready room I can see the USS Helena in her berth, and the battle damage is clearly visible. The Worker bees have already removed parts of her superstructure to get her refit underway as soon as possible; we need every ship online and in the fight. I am sad that it won't be me who takes her back out though. She's a fine ship.
The fact that we all made it back to spacedock after our encounter with the Crystalline Entity speaks to that. 12 starships engaged it in the Alpha Centauri sector, and the Helena was one of only five to survive in one piece. The official casualty total from the fleet stands at 1165. A high cost to simple delay the Entity, Command is sure that it will regenerate and show itself again.
But that isn't my area of concern. The Victory will certainly be in the area should the Entity return, but we have a different focus: Romulans. They've always been secretive and troublesome, but after they lost their homeworld, they have become unpredictable, even erratic. And that makes them dangerous. First all out war with the Klingons, then the Borg showing up again, and now the Romulans stirring the pot. They are no longer respecting the neutral zone, and that means that Starfleet won't either. We're going to get to the bottom of what the Romulans and their Reman friends are up to. Our first stop will be Starbase Sierra 39, and then on into Romulan space. I don't think this week will be the last sleepless one we'll be spending.
Signed,
Cedric J. Tiberion,
Commander, U.S.S. Victory
